Moksha is an Oslo based band consisting of guitarist Oddrun Lilja Jonsdottir (Norway/Iceland), tabla player Sanskriti Shrestha (Nepal) and Tore Flatjord (Norway) on darbuka. Moksha draws inspiration from traditional music from different parts of the world, but also from the moment. A unique concert experience characterized by complex rhythms, catchy melodies and contemplation. The band was established in 2012, and has over the last years toured in Norway, Europe and Nepal and collaborated with sitar master Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan based in Hamburg, pianist Bugge Wesseltoft based in Oslo, and flautist Rubin Shrestha based in Nepal, among others.

In April 2016 they released their debut album “The Beauty of an Arbitrary Moment” on Bugge Wesseltoft’s iconic label Jazzland. The album received great critics in Norwegian, German and English magazines.

«Moksha embarks on a mesmerising, positively spiritual journey of contemplative moments, atmospheric improvisation, complex rhythms and layered sounds. Their distinct yet spacious sonic architecture fuses elements of jazz and Indian raga with multi-emotional, almost folkloric harmonies and patterns, flowing effortlessly through space and time, epitomised in six highly engaging tracks on a quest for beauty in expression.»
